Chicago Junk Journal Club is a creative community rooted in paper arts, mixed media, and hands-on creativity. While junk journaling is part of what we do, our events also explore illustration, collage, painting, printmaking, creative play, and artistic exploration in many forms.

Chicago Junk Journal Club is founded and run by Beks, owner of BeksRoses, an Albanian artist, art teacher, and creative community organizer focused on building welcoming, hands-on creative spaces.

Not at all. You do not need to keep a junk journal, or any journal, to attend. Our events are open to anyone who enjoys creating, experimenting, or spending time in a creative environment.

We host a mix of creative meetups and workshops, including mixed-media sessions, guided technique workshops, themed creative events, and open-ended creation time. Some events are structured, while others are intentionally loose and exploratory.

No experience is required. All skill levels are welcome, from complete beginners to experienced creatives. Our focus is on process, not perfection.

This depends on the event. Some events include a curated creative pack or materials, while others invite you to bring your own supplies. Each event listing outlines what’s provided.

It varies. Some workshops include step-by-step guidance, while others are self-led with light prompts or inspiration. Event descriptions will always clarify the format.

Tickets are released through our website and announced on Instagram. Seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Members of our Patreon receive priority registration for select events.
